Women's Cross Country wraps up season at NCAA New England meet

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's cross country team wrapped up their 2016 campaign as the competed today in the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships held at Westfield State University. The Falcons finished in 53rd place.

Sophomore Ashley Hyde was the top finisher for Fitchburg State running the 6K race in 26:02. Senior Kelly McCarthy was the next Falcon to cross the line with a time of 26:40. McCarthy was followed by Shawna Ryan (27:03), Bridget Diggins (27:25), Casey Taylor (27:57) and Alyssa Cardoso (30:16).

Brittany Bowman of Tufts won the individual championship covering the course in 21:14.

The Falcons have finished the 2016 season.
