Bourassa & Richburg Collect MASCAC Weekly Honors
Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Men’s Outdoor Track senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Outdoor Track Field Athlete of the Week, while sophomore Shamar Richburg (Rio Vista, TX) was selected MASCAC Men’s Outdoor Track Rookie of the week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Bourassa named Field Athlete of the Week; Richburg tabbed Rookie of the Week
Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Men's Outdoor Track senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Field Athlete of the Week, while sophomore Shamar Richburg (Rio Vista, TX) was selected MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track Rookie of the week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Bourassa collected his first weekly accolade of the 2026 campaign after placing first overall in the javelin with an All-New England qualifying toss of 64.94 meters in the javelin, while finishing second in the discus with a DIII New England qualifying toss of 44.42 meters as well as placing second in the shot put with a DIII NE qualifying throw of 14.88 meters for the Falcons at the 2026 Corsair Invite, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.
Richburg also earned his first weekly honor of the 2026 season after finishing first overall in the triple jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 13.44 meters as well as placing fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.16 meters for the Falcons at the 2026 Jonathan Tymann Invitational, hosted by Gordon College on Friday.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday as they host the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational, starting at 10:00AM.
