Softball Picked Third In Pre-Season Poll
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State softball team was recently picked third overall in the 2022 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pre-Season Coaches Poll after amassing 33 points as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State softball team was recently picked third overall in the 2022 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pre-Season Coaches Poll after amassing 33 points as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
The Bears of Bridgewater are the pre-season pick to win the 2022 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball championship in a vote of the league's coaches after receiving a total of 48 points, including six first place ballots, while Framingham State followed in second place with 44 points, which included the remaining two first place ballots
Following in the third slot was Fitchburg State with a total of 33 points, while Westfield State landed in the fourth spot with 27 points. Worcester State was next, sitting in the fifth spot with 24 points, while the Trailblazers of MCLA were picked to finish sixth with 20 points.
Salem State slide into seventh with 19 points, while the Buccaneers of Massachusetts Maritime Academy closed out this year's softball pre-season poll in eighth place with a total of nine points.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in the sport of football for the 2013-14 academic year.
The Fitchburg State Softball team opens its 2022 campaign on Tuesday, March 8th as they take on Thiel College and Dean College at the 2022 Fastpitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM.
