Fitchburg State Earns Pair Of MASCAC Weekly Accolades

McClure named Field Athlete of the Week; Steele tabbed Rookie of the Week

FITCHBURG, Mass. (December 16, 2013) – Junior Rebecca McClure (Lyndeborough, N.H.) and freshman Morgan Steele (Somerset, Mass.) collected a pair of MASCAC Women’s Indoor Track weekly awards this week as announced by the conference office Sunday evening.

McClure collects her first weekly honor of the season after being named MASCAC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. Rebecca broke her own school pole vaulting record with an ECAC qualifying height of 3.35 meters to pace the Falcons at the 2013 Jay Carisella Meet hosted by Northeastern University on Saturday afternoon.

Steele also earns her first weekly accolade of the 2013-14 season after being selected MASCAC Women’s Indoor Track Rookie of the Week. Morgan registered a MASCAC qualifying toss of 10.12 meters in the shot put in her first collegiate competition as Fitchburg State competed at the 2013 Northeastern University Jay Carisella Meet on Saturday afternoon.

The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams will be in action again after the winter break as they visit Tufts University on January 18th for a meet starting at 10 a.m.
