MASCAC Releases Fall-Winter All-Academic Team
FITCHBURG, MA: Fitchburg State finished the fall-winter semester with 124 of the 1,390 student-athletes making the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Academic Team. Making up the 1,390 student-athletes are twelve institutions, including the eight core members of the MASCAC and four affiliate members.
The criteria that are needed to be placed on the All-Academic Team is anyone who competes in a championship varsity sport offered by each of the MASCAC institutions during the course of the Fall and Winter 2023 athletic season and has achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester-based grade point average during the semester.
Leading the way for the Falcons through the fall-winter semester is the ice hockey team, with 22 being named. Next was the football team, with 18 student-athletes. In third is the women's soccer team, with 14 selections. Rounding out the top five is field hockey, with 12, and men's cross country, with 10.
The Falcons selections make up 9% of the MASCAC's All-Academic Team. Bridgewater and Westfield State led the way with 16%, followed by Worcester State with 14%. Framingham State, MCLA, and Mass Maritime ended with 8%, with Salem finishing with 7%.
