Fall of 2026 will mark Townsend’s first year at the helm of Fitchburg State Women’s Volleyball. 

A former collegiate volleyball student-athlete at both the Division II and Division III levels, Townsend transitions into the role with valuable coaching experience. She previously served as an assistant coach at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and most recently held the position of head coach at Anna Maria College, where she was responsible for leading all aspects of the program.

In addition to her work in athletics, Townsend currently serves as the Senior Director of People & Culture at Abby's House, bringing a strong foundation in leadership, organizational development, and student-athlete support.
