Abt Selected MASCAC Player Of The Week
Newbury, Mass. native earned first weekly accolade of the season
FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State baseball senior Joseph Abt (Newbury, MA) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
The third-year Falcon collected his first weekly honor of the season after batting .632 (12-for-19) with a double, homerun, six RBI, five stolen bases and four runs scored in addition to slugging .842 and a an on base percentage of .632 in a 3-1 week for the Green and Gold.
Joseph went a combined 8-for-9 with two RBI, five stolen bases and three runs scored in a doubleheader sweep over the Buccaneers of Mass. Maritime Academy on Saturday before adding a homerun, three RBI and a run scored in a 15-7 triumph over MCLA as well as going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in setback to Worcester State.
The Fitchburg State baseball team (8-22, 6-12 MASCAC) returns to action tomorrow as they host the Buccaneers of Mass. Maritime Academy in a MASCAC clash, starting at 3:00PM.
