Cheerleading Information
About Cheerleading:
The Fitchburg State Cheerleading team is an athletic club on campus that aims to promote school spirit and competitive cheerleading across the university through its involvement in home football games, local college showcases, campus event performances/appearances, community fundraisers, and participation in NCA college cheerleading nationals in Daytona, FL. The goal of this team is, first and foremost, to spread school spirit, and secondly, to promote a fun, respectful, and competitive sport. In the fall semester, we typically focus on our game team, which performs at home football games and participates in fundraisers and campus events that take place within the semester. In the spring semester, we switch our focus to the competition season, where we prepare for NCA college cheerleading nationals in April, while still participating in fundraisers and campus events that take place during that semester. Typically, our team practices 2-3 times a week for 4-6 hours a week, depending on our proximity to competition season. Cheerleaders are trained to master basic skills, improve high-level skills, and become connected members of the campus community.
