Halbig Selected NEHWA DII-III All-Star

Queenstown, MD native collects second post-season accolade

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Ice Hockey graduate student Christian Halbig (Queenstown, MD) was recently named to the 2026 New England Hockey Writers' Association (NEHWA) DII-III All-Star team as announced by the NEWHA on Friday.

Halbig earned his second post-season honor after registering 28 points on two goals and a team-best 26 assists as well as one power-play marker over 26 contests for the Green and Gold. For his efforts, Christian was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Defensive Player of the Year as well as being selected to MASCAC All-Conference first team.

The New England Hockey Writers' Association will host its annual awards brunch on Sunday, April 19th at the Price Restaurant in Saugus, MA. The event will include the recognition of the New England Writers' honorees as well as the presentation of the Walter Brown Award and the Joe Concannon Award. In addition, the Eastern Massachusetts Ice Hockey Officials will present the J. Thom Lawler Award.

The afternoon will end with the presentation of the Parker-York Award for Contributions to New England Hockey. For the first time, this year's event will be a Sunday brunch, streamlined to allow attendees an enjoyable reunion of the New England hockey community, starting with food and beverage at noon, with the awards presentation to begin at 12:30pm. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team concluded the 2025-26 campaign with an overall record of 17-9-0 and a 10-4-0 clip within conference play, en-route to capturing the third seed in the 2026 MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey post-season tournament.
