Men’s Indoor Soars At 2026 Branwen Smith-King Invite

Monette, Bourassa, Edwards & Guevara Mateo collect first place efforts for the Green & Gold

Medford, MA. – The Fitchburg State University Men's Indoor Track & Field team competed at the 2026 Branwen Smith-King Invitational today, hosted by Tufts University at the Gantcher Family & Sports Convocation Center.

Senior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) led the way for the Falcons, placing first overall in the weight throw with an All-New England qualifying toss of 17.37 meters and tenth in the shotput with a mark of 12.77 meters, senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) placed second overall in the weight throw with an All-NE qualifying mark of 16.70 meters as well finishing first overall in the shotput with an All-New England qualifying toss of 15.60 meters.

Sophomore Shamar Richburg (Rio Vista, TX) was also solid for the Green and Gold, finishing fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.52 meters and 13th overall In the triple jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 13.24 meters, while newcomer Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) placed first overall in the mile with an All-New England qualifying time of 4:15.89.

In the 60 meter, sophomore Jaiden  Madden (Lynn, MA) (7.45), classmate Christopher Adamchek (Carlisle, MA) (7.65), junior Derrick Tawiah (Worcester, MA) (7.77) and senior David Rodriguez (Hampden, MA) (8.34) finished 30th, 40th, 41st and 42nd respectively, while in the 5000 meter, junior Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) took top honors with a time 15:57.49.

In the mile, junior Lemuel Del Valle (Lawrence, MA) placed tenth with a time of 5:19.96, while in the 400 meter, senior Omar Elmi (Worcester, MA) and classmate Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) placed 18th and 19th with times of 56.90 and 57.26 seconds.

Junior Jesse Moriello (Saugus, MA) turned in a 14th place time of 1:33.56 in the 600 meter, while in the 1000 meter, junior Joshua Lancaster (Holden, MA) (10th), senior Michael Burns (Worcester, MA) (11th), junior Matthew Gill (Ayer, MA) (12th) and Del Valle (13th) turned in times of 2:56.93, 2:58.28, 3:03.95 and 3:04.91.

In the 200 meter, Madden and Rodriguez finished 34th and 37th with times of 25.04 seconds and 27.11 seconds, while the 4x800 meter relay team of Edwards, Elmi, Lancaster and Guevara Mateo finished third overall with a time of 8:38.77.

In the field, sophomore Joseph Imbracsio (N. Billerica, MA) (20th), freshman Vishnu Pithani (Mansfield, MA) (21st) and newcomer Nathan Murray (N. Billerica, MA) (22nd) registered tosses of 9.67M, 9.46M and 6.45M, while in the shotput, Murray (9.98M), Pithani (9.39M) and Imbracsio (8.84M) placed 29th, 31st and 33rd.

In the long jump, freshman Kevin Tawiah (Worcester, MA) and classmate Angel Lockward (Santo Domingo, DN) finished 15th and 20th with marks of 5.49 and 4.99 meters.
