Men’s Indoor Track Competes At 2026 Suffolk Ice Breaker Challenge
Bourassa and Paulino take top honors for the Green & Gold
Boston, MA. – The Fitchburg State University Men's Indoor Track & Field team competed at the 2026 Suffolk Ice Breaker Challenge today at the New Balance Track.

Freshman Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) led the way for the Falcons, placing first overall in the 5000 meter with an All-New England qualifying time of 14:50.67, while senior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) finished second in the weight throw with an All-New England qualifying toss of 17.31 meters and 13th in the shot put with a toss of 12.79 meters.
Sophomore Shamar Richburg (Rio Vista, TX) was also solid for the Green and Gold, finishing third in the triple jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 13.47 meters, while senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) placed sixth in the weight throw with an All-NE qualfiying mark of 16.89 meters as well as placing first overall in the shotput with a DIII New England qualifying throw of 14.43 meters.
In the mile, junior Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) and classmate Joshua Lancaster (Holden, MA) finished 21st and 58th overall with times of 4:35.25 and 5:13.24, while Edwards and senior Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) placed 17th and 27th in the 800 meter with times of 2:04.53 and 2:08.61.
Junior Lemuel Del Valle (Lawrence, MA) placed 22nd overall in the 1000 meter with a time of: 3:03.25, while junior Cameron Borges (Fall River, MA) finished 12th in the shotput with a throw of 13.04 meters
