Men’s Track Shines At Mary Grinaker Invite
Monette & Bourassa notch All-NE qualifying marks for the Green & Gold
Northampton, MA – The Fitchburg State University Men's Indoor Track & Field team returned to action today as they competed at the 2026 Mary Grinaker Invitational, hosted by Smith College at the Indoor Track & Tennis Center.

Senior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) led the way for the Falcons, placing first overall in the weight throw with an All-New England qualifying toss of 17.91 meters as well as finishing third overall in the shotput with a DIII NE qualifying mark of 13.73 meters, senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) placed first overall in the shotput with an All-NE qualifying throw of 15.94 meters. With his toss in the weight throw, Monette currently ranks 17th on NCAA DIII Performance List in the weight throw.
Sophomore Shamar Richburg (Rio Vista, TX) was also solid for the Green and Gold, finishing fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.25 meters and second overall In the triple jump mark of 12.96 meters, while newcomer Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) placed first overall in the mile with a time of 4:30.71 and first overall in the 1000 meter with a DIII NE qualifying time of 2:32.57.
In the 60 meter, sophomore Jaiden Madden (Lynn, MA) (7.44), junior Derrick Tawiah (Worcester, MA) (7.730, senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) (7.75) and freshman Nathaniel Otor (Peabody, MA) (7.85) placed 12th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th respectively, while in the 60 meter hurdles, sophomore William McGurl (Billerica, MA) turned in a seventh place time of 9.83 seconds.
In the 5000 meter, senior Michael Burns (Worcester, MAI placed sixth overall with a time of 17:29.03, while in the 400 meter, junior Alvaro Castillo-Clottier Jr (Palmer, MA) (3rd) and classmate Jesse Moriello (Saugus, MA) (13th) posted times of 53.87 and 56.68 seconds.
In the 600 meter, senior Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) (15th) and classmate Omar Elmi (Worcester, MA) placed sixth and ninth with times of 1:28.68 and 1:32.34, while in the 1000 meter, junior Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) (2nd), junior Lemuel Del Valle (Lawrence, MA) (8th) and senior Matthew Gill (Ayer, MA) (10th) posted times of 2:41.21, 2:58.50 and 3:04.20.
In the 200 meter, Clottier (1st), Madden (9th), Moriello (14th), (15th) sophomore Christopher Adamchek (Carlisle, MA) (15th) and Tawiah (19th) turned in times of 23.56, 24.55, 25.08, 25.15 and 25.58 seconds, while the 4x200 meter relay team of Clottier, Elmi, Otor and Madden finished fourth overall with a time of 1:41.20
In the field, junior John Koutsouoa (Birdsboro, PA) (9th), freshman Vishnu Pithani (Mansfield, MA) (14th), sophomore Joseph Imbracsio (N. Billerica, MA) and newcomer Nathan Murray (North Billerica, MA) (17th) notched tosses of 12.02, 9.95, 9.93 and 8.42 meters in the weight throw, while in the shotput, freshman Cameron Borges (Fall River, MA) (13.16M), Koutsouoa (11.95M), Murray (10.14M), Pithani (9.88M) and sophomore Joseph Imbracsio (N. Billerica, MA) (9.29M) placed fifth, eighth, 16th, 18th and 19th.
In the long jump, sophomore Tafari Byfield-Felton (Fiskdale, MA) (12th), freshman Angel Lockward (Santo Domingo, DN) (14th) and newcomer Kevin Tawiah (Worcester, MA) (16th) notched marks of 5.23, 5.03 and 4.73 meters, while freshman Emile Rabinovich (Freeland, WA) placed 11th overall in the pole vault with a mark of 3.25 meters. In the triple jump, junior Tafari Byfield-Felton (Fiskdale, MA) and Lockward placed eighth and 15th with marks of 12.65 and 10.75 meters. In the triple jump, Byfield-Felton placed third overall with a mark of 12.77 meters.
