Monette & Guevara Mateo Earn MASCAC Weekly Honors

Monette named Field Athlete of the Week; Guevara Mateo tabbed Rookie of the Week 

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Men's Indoor Track senior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track Field Athlete of the Week, while freshman Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) was selected MASCAC Men's Indoor Track Rookie of the week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Monette notched his second weekly accolade of the season after placing first overall in the weight throw with an All- New England qualifying and personal best toss of 17.91 meters as well as finishing third overall in the shotput with a DIII NE qualifying throw of 13.73 meters for the Falcons at the 2026 Mary Grinaker Inviter, hosted by Smith College on Saturday. With his toss in the weight throw, Cam currently ranks 19th nationally in the event.

Guevara Mateo registered his fourth weekly honor of the 2026 campaign after finishing first overall in the mile with a time of 4:30.71, while adding a first place effort in the 1000 meter with a DIII NE qualifying time of 2:32.57 for the Green and Gold at the 2026 Mary Grinaker Invite, hosted by Smith College on Saturday.

The Falcons return to action on Friday as they compete at the 2026 Coast Guard Academy Winter Invitational.
