Bourassa & Guevara Mateo Sweep MASCAC Weekly Honors
Bourassa named Field Athlete of the Week; Guevara Mateo tabbed Rookie & Athlete of the Week
Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Men's Indoor Track senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track Field Athlete of the Week, while freshman Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) was selected MASCAC Men's Indoor Track Rookie and Athlete of the week as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Bourassa notched his fourth weekly accolade of the season after placingtaking top honors in the weight throw with an All-New England qualifying toss of 17.45 meters before finishing first overall in the shotput with an All-NE qualifying throw of 15.45 meters for the Falcons at the 2026 MASCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Wheaton College on Sunday.
Guevara Mateo registered his sixth weekly honor of the 2026 campaign after finishing first in the mile with a time of 4:20.32 before placing first in the 3000 meter with an All-New England qualifying and meet record time of 8:29.98. Concluded the evening, taking top honors in the 5000 meter with an All-NE qualifying and meet record time of 14:57.30 for the Green and Gold at the 2026 MASCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Wheaton College on Sunday.
The Falcons return to action on Sunday as they compete at the 2026 NETAC Championships, hosted by Harvard University.
