Bourassa & Guevara Mateo Sweep MASCAC Weekly Honors
Bourassa named Field Athlete of the Week; Guevara Mateo tabbed Rookie & Track Athlete of the Week
Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Men's Indoor Track senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track Field Athlete of the Week, while freshman Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) was selected both MASCAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete & Rookie of the week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Bourassa notched his fourth weekly accolade of the season after placing first overall in the weight throw with an All-New England qualifying toss of 17.12 meters as well as finishing fourth overall in the shotput with an All-NE qualifying throw of 15.76 meters at the 2026 DIII New England Championships on Sunday.
Guevara Mateo registered his eighth weekly honor of the 2026 campaign after placing seventh overall in the mile with an All-New England and PR time of 4:12.56 as well as finishing sixth overall in the 3000 meter with an All-NE qualifying and new program record time of 8:26.25, breaking the previous record, held by Chris Kibler in 2012 for the Falcons at the 2026 DIII NE Championships on Sunday.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday as they compete at the 2026 All-New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.
