Men’s Track Takes On 2026 All-New England Championships & Tufts National Qualifier

Guevara Mateo sets new school record time of 14:27.90 in the 5000 meter

Medford MA – The Fitchburg State University Men's Indoor Track & Field team returned to action this weekend as they competed at the 2026 All-New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday and the 2026 Tufts National Qualifier on Saturday.

At the 2026 All-New England Championships, senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) led the way for the Falcons, placing fifth overall in the weight throw with a toss of 17.24 meters, while senior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) placed finished 14th overall in the weight throw with a toss of 15.46 meters.

Newcomer Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) placed first overall in the 5000 meter with a new school record time of 14:27,90, breaking his previous record time of 14:31.49 set earlier this season.

At the 2026 Tufts National Qualifier, Bourassa took top honors in the weight throw with a toss of 17.85 meters as well as finishing fourth overall in the shotput with a throw of 15.53 meters, while Monette finished fifth overall in the weight throw with a mark of 15.77 meters.

Junior Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) added a 13th place time of 4:26.13 in mile for the Green and Gold
