How It Happened
Junior Eric Shimiyimana (Worcester, Mass.) paced the Falcons, taking top honors in the triple jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 13.45 meters, while adding a MASCAC qualifying jump of 6.37 meters in the long jump after placing fourth overall in the event.
Junior Zanthius Collins (Franklin, Mass.) was also solid for the Green and Gold, finishing second in the javelin with a DIII NE qualifying toss of 56.51 meters, while classmate Nathaniel Felix (Worcester, Mass.) placed first overall in the 100 meter with DIII New England qualifying time of 11.00 seconds.
Freshman Nicholas Zeoli (Plymouth, Mass.) put forth a strong showing in the discus with a DIII NE qualifying toss of 42.19 meters after placing third overall in the event, while sophomore Taban Manyok (Lowell, Mass.) qualified for the post-season in the 1500 meter (13th) (4:03.41) and the 5000 meter (5th) (15:46.11).
In the 400 meter, sophomore Jeremy Allik (Natick, Mass.) (10th) and freshman Christian Bueno-Campos (14th) turned in MASCAC qualifying times of 52.67 seconds and 54.43 seconds respectively, while senior Nicholas Sachetts (Billerica, Mass.) finished 24th in the 800 meter with a post-season qualifying time of 1:59.50.
Junior Benjamin Sacramone (Hubbardston, Mass.) posted a post-season qualifying time of 18.20 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles (13th), while junior Cameron Davis (Gardner, Mass.) posted a MASCAC qualifying time of 4:33.72 in the 1500 meter after finishing 30th.
In the field, Zeoli (41.56m) and freshman Cameron Cunningham (Berkley, Mass.) (34.61m) placed ninth and18th in the hammer throw to qualify for the post-season, while the 4x100 meter relay team of junior Gene Bouthiette (Enfield, Conn.), Allik, Felix and newcomer Shaki Auston (Springfield, Mass.) rounded out the top Falcon efforts on the afternoon, placing fifth overall with a time of 44.51 seconds.
