Shimiyimana Named MOTK Field Athlete of the Week

Worcester, Mass. native earns first weekly honor of the year 

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman Eric Shimiyimana (Worcester, Mass.) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

The fourth-year Falcons notches his first weekly honor of the 2023 campaign after taking top honors in the triple jump with a DIII NE qualifying mark of 13.29 meters before adding a fifth place effort of 6.16 meters in the long jump for the Green and Gold at the 2023 Snowflake Classic, hosted by Tufts University on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State Men's Outdoor Track and Field team returns to action on Saturday as they host the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational from Elliot Field.
