Bourassa & Mateo Earn MASCAC Weekly Honors

Bourassa named Field Athlete of the Week; Mateo tabbed Rookie of the Week 

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Men's Outdoor Track senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Field Athlete of the Week, while freshman Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) was selected MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track Rookie of the week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Bourassa collected his second weekly accolade of the 2026 campaign after placing first overall in the javelin with an All-New England qualifying throw of 68.69 meters as well placing first overall in hammer throw with an All-NE qualifying toss of 53.93 meters. In addition, Liam finished first overall in shot put (15.00M) and first in the discus with an All-New England qualifying throw of 47.00 meters for the Falcons at the 2026 Jim Sheehan Invite on Saturday.

Guevara Mateo  collected his first weekly honor of the season after placing first overall in the 1500 meter with a DIII New England qualifying time of 3:57.49 as well as finishing second overall in the 800 meter with a time of 2:00.20 for the Falcons at the 2026 Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite on Saturday.

The Falcons return to action this weekend as they compete at the 2026 Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College on Friday and Saturday.
