Multiple Falcons capture DIII Qualifying times at Sean Collier Invitational at MIT; Set 2 new school records

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Falcons Men's and Women's Outdoor Track traveled to MIT to compete in a highly competitive field of New England athletes. 

How it happened

Fitchburg State track and field continued to build momentum with an impressive all-around performance, highlighted by multiple first-place finishes, a pair of school records, and a nationally ranked mark. The Falcons saw strong contributions from both the men's and women's squads, particularly in the throwing events and distance races.

Men's Results

  • Paulino Guevara Mateo placed 2nd in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:25.01.

  • Liam Bourassa placed 1st, winning the discus with a throw of 45.96 meters.

  • Liam Bourassa also captured 1st place in the hammer throw with a mark of 58.56 meters, which ranks 10th nationally in Division III.

  • Cameron Monette placed 2nd in the hammer throw with a distance of 53.84 meters, a personal best. 

  • Antonio Martinez-Pacheco finished 3rd in shot put with a mark of 14.25.00 meters, which met DIII qualifying standards, and ranks as a new personal best.

  • Antonio Martinez-Pacheco also finished 5th in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.00 meters.

  • Liam Bourassa placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 15.22 meters, setting a new school record. 

  • Cameron Monette finished 3rd in the shot put with a mark that meets Division III qualifying standards.

Women's Results

  • Skye Goba finished 11th in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:41.25, setting yet another new school record.

  • Makany Camara placed 5th in the high jump with a clearance of 1.58 meters.

  • Makany Camara also finished 3rd in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.88 seconds.

  • Trishannah Scott placed 4th in the triple jump with a mark of 10.80 meters.

Up Next

The Falcons will look to carry this momentum into their next meet as they continue to climb towards conference and national meets, and will host the MASCAC Conference Meet at 10AM on April 25th.
