Men’s Track Places Seventh At DIII New England’s
Bourassa takes top honors in the javelin and hammer throw
Springfield, Mass.– The Fitchburg State University Men's Outdoor Track & Field team placed seventh overall at the 2026 DIII New England Championships with a total of 46 points this past weekend at the Blake Track, hosted by Springfield College.

Senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) led the way for the Falcons placing fourth overall in the shotput with an All-New England qualifying toss of 15.4286 meters before taking top honors in the javelin with an All-NE qualifying throw of 69.14 meters as well finishing first in the hammer throw with an All-New England qualifying toss of 69.14 meters and fourth in the discus with an All-Ne qualifying throw of 47.05 meters, while classmate Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) finished third overall in the hammer throw with an All-New England qualifying toss of 54.20 meters.
Newcomer Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) was also solid for the Green and Gold, placing first overall in the 5000 meter with an All-NE qualifying time of 14:41.75.
In the 110 meter hurdles, senior Tyriek Williams (Canonsburg, PA) finished 24th overall with a time 15.91 seconds, while junior Jesse Moriello (Saugus, MA) placed 25th overall in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.70 seconds.
The 4x100 meter relay team of Williams, sophomore Jadden Madden (Lynn, MA)), junior Alvaro Castillo-Clottier Jr (Palmer, MA) and sophomore Christopher Adamchek (Carlisle, MA) finished 11tho overall with a time of 43.39 seconds, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Clottier, senior Omar Elmi (Worcester, MA), Moriello and newcomer Martin Griffith (Randolph, MA) turned in a 17th place time of 3:33.15.
The 4x800 meter relay team of junior Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA), senior Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA), Mateo and junior Joshua Lancaster (Holden, MA) finished 11th overall with a time of 8:11.66.
In the field, junior Antonio Martinez-Pacheco (Nashua, NH) placed 17th in the shotput with a toss of 13.60 meters, while in the triple jump, sophomore Shamar Richburg (Rio Vista, TX) and classmate Tafari Byfield-Felton (Fiskdale, MA) placed ninth and 14th respectively with marks of 13.69 meters and 13.04 meters.
