Falcon Duo Sweeps MASCAC Weekly Acolades

Bourassa named Field Athlete; Guevara Mateo selected Track Athlete & Rookie 

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Men's Outdoor Track senior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Field Athlete of the Week, freshman Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) was selected MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete & Rookie of the week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. 

Bourassa earned his sixth weekly accolade of the 2026 campaign after taking top honors in the javelin with throw of 69.40 meters as well as placing first overall in the hammer throw with a toss of 58.81 meters. Concluded the day, finishing seventh in the shotput with a toss of 15.39 meters and sixth in the discus with a throw of 45.30 meters for the Falcons at the 2026 All-New England Championships, hosted by Stonehill College this past weekend. With his throws in javelin and hammer throw, Liam currently ranks second nationally in the javelin and 13th nationally in the hammer throw.

Guevara Mateo collected his sixth weekly honor of the season after placing fourth overall in the 10,000 meter with a new school record time of 29:54.14 for the Falcons at the 2026 F.I.R.E meet, hosted by Williams College on Friday. With his time in the 10,000 meter, Paulino currently ranks 23rd nationally in the event.

The Falcons return to action on Thursday as select members compete at the 2026 MIT Last Chance National Qualifier.
