Men's Cross Country Finishes Fifth At 2025 James Early Invite
Guevara Mateo leads the way for the Falcons, placing second overall with a time of 25:30.10
Westfield, MA – The Fitchburg State University men's cross-country team placed fifth at the 2025 James Early Invitational with a total of 162 points, hosted by Westfield State this morning at Stanley Park.

How It Happened
Freshman Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) paced the Green and Gold placing second overall with a time of 25:30.10 over the 8K layout, while junior Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) followed in 15th place with a time of 26:56.40.
Senior Michael Burns (Worcester, MA) was next for the Falcons, crossing the line in sixth place 20th place with a time of 27:16.82, while junior Joshua Lancaster (Holden, MA) entered the chute in 50th place with a time of 28:38.70.
Rounding out the top finishers for the Green and Gold were senior Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) (100th), sophomore Alvaro Castillo-Clottier Jr (Palmer, MA) (108) and junior Lemuel Del Valle (Lawrence, MA) with times of 30:33.22, 30:43.49 and 31:30.76.
