Guevara Mateo Captures DIII East Regional Championship Crown

Guevara Mateo places first overall with a time of 24:31.6

Hopkinton, NH – The Fitchburg State University men's cross-country team finished 17th overall at the 2025 NCAA DIII East Regional Championship Cross Country Meet with a total of 483 points at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds.

How It Happened

Freshman Paulino Guevara Mateo (Cambridge, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold taking top honors with a time of 24:31.6 over the 8K course, while junior Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) followed in 70th place with a time of 26:44.4.

With the win, Mateo became the first Fitchburg State runner to claim the individual title at the NCAA DIII East Regional Championship Meet.

Senior Micheal Burns (Worcester, MA) (100th) was next to enter the chute for the Falcons with time of 27:31.1, while junior Joshua Lancaster (Holden, MA) (135th) was next after posting a time of 28:13.9.


Rounding out the top finishers for the Green and Gold were junior Lemuel Del Valle (Lawrence, MA) (188th) and senior Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) (193rd) with times of 30:55.2 and 31:12.8.
