Softball Splits On Day Two At 2026 Space Coast Spring Games
Dillon blasts two-run walk-off home run in game one
Melbourne, FL. – The Fitchburg State University Softball team returned to action today as the Falcons earned a 5-4 victory over the Barons of Franciscan University before dropping a 7-6 decision to the Fighting Scots of Monmouth College on day two action of the 2026 Space Coast Spring Games.

How It Happened
Game One
Franciscan opened the scoring in the top of first as Emma Davis came around to score on a passed ball for the 1-0 edge. The Barons pushed the advantage to 4-0 in the top of the third when Elizabeth Maxwell and Madison Kozares notched RBI doubles.
Fitchburg State answered back in the bottom of the fifth with sophomore Carolyn Brodeur (Ashby, MA) drawing a walk and crossing the plate on an RBI single down the left field line off the bat of freshman Amaya Carrion (E. Longmeadow, MA) to make the score 4-1.
The Falcons trimmed the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth as sophomore Izabella Raughley (Hartley, DE) laced an RBI single to center that drove in senior Shaelyn Burns (North Attleboro, MA) before Carrion connected on an RBI single to left that brought in classmate Priscilla Dillon (Glennville, GA).
The Falcons secured the victory in the bottom of the seventh when sophomore Paige Konopka (Middlefield, CT) drew a two-walk before Dillon blasted a two-run home run to left center, resulting in the 5-4 final.
By The Numbers
- Dillon led the way for the Falcons, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI
- Carrion finished 2-of-2 with two RBI for the Green and Gold
- Freshman Taylor Marino (North Easton, MA) earned her first collegiate victory for the Green & Gold, allowing four runs (3 earned) on ten hits with two K's in the complete game effort
Game Two
Fitchburg State opened the scoring in the top of the third as freshman Chloe Bafundo (Southington, CT) registered an RBI single to left to drive in Brodeur before junior Julia Cooper (Lumberton, NJ) brought in Carrion with an RBI single to right center for the 2-0 edge.
Monmouth grabbed a 5-2 advantage in the bottom of the third when Graci Guenther, Maddie Hepner, and Alexis Hardy notched RBI's. The Fighting Scots pushed the lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the fourth with Elizabeth Waymire registering a two-run single. The Falcons trimmed the deficit to 7-6 in the top of the fifth with freshman Kiley Connors (Newington, CT) driving in Dillon before Carrion and Dillon follow with RBI base knocks in the top of the sixth, resulting in the 7-6 final.
