Softball Drops Pair Of Contests To Lakeland and St. Mary’s On Final Day Of Space Coast Spring Games
Mueller collects three hit for Green & Gold
Melbourne, FL. – The Fitchburg State Softball team dropped a pair of contests to the Muskies of Lakeland University and the Belles of St. Mary's (IN) by the scores of 9-1 and 14-1 in non-conference action on day five action of the 2026 Space Coast Spring Games.

How It Happened
Game One
Lakeland opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as Carlie Morrow, Lexi Howard and Kendyll Holub collected RBI's for the 4-0 edge. The Muskies pushed the advantage to 5-0 in the following frame with Maddie Raske notching an RBI double.
Fitchburg State responded in the top of the fourth inning when freshman Chloe Bafundo (Southington, CT) reached on a fielding miscue and crossed the plate on an RBI double down the left field line from classmate Keegan Kelley (Upton, MA) to make the score 5-1.
Lakeland secured the victory in the bottom of the fourth with Morrow collecting an RBI, while Callie Linders added a two-run double, resulting in the 9-1 final

- Bafundo finished 1-for-2 with a run scored
- Freshman Taylor Marino (North Easton, MA) suffered the loss for Fitchburg State, allowing nine runs (5 earned) on nine hits over 3.1 innings of work
Game Two
St. Mary's grabbed a 3-0 advantage in the top of first as Gia Schiavone registered an RBI single to left field, while Maggie Voliva added a two-run single to right field. The Belles upped the lead to 4-0 in the top of the second with Lydia Hinga collecting an RBI single up the middle.
Fitchburg State responded in the bottom of fourth when junior Jessica Muller (Fitchburg, MA) singled up the middle, moved to second a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single up the middle off the bat of sophomore Paige Konopka (Middlefield, CT) to make the score 4-1.
The Belles secured the victory in the top of sixth when Isabella Hochmuth, Hunter St. Peter, and Arianna Vazquez notched RBI singles, resulting in the 14-1 final.
