Genness Named MASCAC Women’s Basketball Rookie Of The Week

Belgrade, Maine native collects first weekly honor of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman guard Morgan Genness (Belgrade, Maine) was selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The first-year Falcon earned her first conference weekly accolade after averaging 8.7 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field (50.0%) as well as three rebounds, two assists and 1.3 steals per contest over three games for the Green and Gold.

Genness posted eight points, four boards, two assists, and two steals in a setback to Manhattenville College on Tuesday before adding five points, one carom, two steals and one block in a 62-47 loss to Western Connecticut State on Friday evening. Morgan concluded the week, registering a game-best 13 points four rebounds and four assists in a 69-52 triumph over Anna Maria on Saturday afternoon.

The Fitchburg State women's basketball team (1-3, 0-0 MASCAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they host the Cougars of Clark University in non-conference action, starting at 6:00 PM.
