Women’s Lacrosse Edged By Lasers In Non-Conference Action

Correia nets first collegiate goal for Green & Gold 

Fitchburg, MA – The Fitchburg State Women's Lacrosse team dropped an 11-8 decision to the Lasers of Lasell University this afternoon in non-conference action from Elliot Field.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State opened the scoring in first period as senior Jessica St. George (Dracut, MA) found the back of the net for her team leading tenth marker of the season for the 1-0 edge. Lasell answered back when sophomore Mara Boldy (Hopedale, MA) netted her tenth score on the season to tie the contest at 1-1. The Lasers grabbed a 2-1 edge late the opening frame with sophomore Ruby Cahill (Peabody, MA) notching her team best 23rd goal of the 2026 campaign.

In the second quarter of play, the visitors pushed the advantage to 3-1 as Cahill connected on her second goal of the contest before St. George responded with her second score of the game to make the score 3-2. The two team traded goals to close the first half with freshman Emma Dressel (Littleton, MA) finding the back of the net for Lasell, while junior Mykaela Correia (Dracut, MA) connecting for the Falcons to make the score 4-3 going into the break.

Following the intermission, Fitchburg State took a 5-4 edge when junior Noelle Kennedy (West Roxbury, MA) and freshman Layne Thomason (Hudson, MA) netting markers, but Lasell answered back with four unanswered scores as Cahill netted a pair, while Dressel and junior Emily Watson (Gilford, NH) added one each for the 8-5 lead. The Falcons trimmed the deficit to 8-6 though as junior Hannah Azzari (Haverhill, MA) notched her tenth tally of the season.

In the final period of play, Fitchburg State reduced the lead to 8-7 early in the frame with Kennedy registering her second score of the contest before Dressel connected on back-to-back goals for the Lasers to push the advantage to 10-7. The Green and Gold answered back when St. Geroge completed the hat trick (10-8), but the Lasers secured the victory as Cahill collected fifth goal on the afternoon, resulting in the 11-8 final.

  • St. George led the way for the Falcons with four points on three goals and one assist as well as two ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers
  • Freshman Reese Curtis (Methuen, MA) contributed with four ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers for the Green and Gold
  • For the Lasers, Cahill finished with seven points on five goals and two helpers in addition to two ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers
  • Sophomore Dakin Kovatch (White River Junction, VT) made a career best 22 saves for Fitchburg State
