Chiacchia & Azzari Collect MASCAC Weekly Honors

Chiacchia tabbed Rookie of the Week; Azzari named Player of the Week

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman Nevaeh Chiacchia (Monson, MA) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, while junior Samantha Azzari (Haverhill, MA) was named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. 

Nevaeh collected her second weekly accolade of the season after registering eight points on seven goals and one assist as well as one groundball, 12 draw controls and one caused turnover in a 2-0 week for the Green and Gold.

Chiacchia posted four goals, and two draw controls in a 19-6 triumph over the Sharks of Simmons University on Wednesday before adding three goals, one assist, one groundball, ten draw controls and one caused turnover in a 16-10 victory against the Buccaneers of Mass. Maritime Academy on Friday.

Azzari notched her first weekly honor of the 2026 campaign after totaling nine points on six goals and three assists to go along with five groundballs, one draw control and one caused turnover in a 2-0 week for the Falcons. Samantha registered three goals and three assists as well as two groundballs and one draw control in a 19-6 victory over the Sharks of Simmons University on Wednesday before adding three goals, three groundballs and one caused turnover in a 16-10 triumph against the Buccaneers of Mass. Maritime Academy on Friday.

The Fitchburg State Women's Lacrosse team (6-7, 1-2 MASCAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they as they travel to Salem State to take one the Vikings in MASCAC action, starting at 7:00PM.
