FITCHBURG, Mass. (January 29, 2014) – Fitchburg State University has named Patricia McColl as the eighth head coach in the history of the women's soccer program this afternoon. The announcement was made by Sue Lauder, Director of Athletics at the University.
"I am very pleased to name Patricia McColl as the new head women's soccer coach at Fitchburg State University,” said Lauder. "Patti’s credentials speak for themselves. I believe she will provide the program with the experience and positive direction it needs."
McColl takes over the reigns as the head women’s soccer coach at Fitchburg State after serving the past three years as the Boys Junior Varsity Soccer Coach at Lunenburg High School. Prior to her role at Lunenburg, McColl volunteered within the Lunenburg Youth Soccer Program for several years and also served as an assistant coach of the Curry College women’s soccer team.
During her playing days, McColl was a four-year member of the Colonel’s women’s soccer team, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management. Following her college career, McColl was invited to play on the Boston Renegades, a semi-pro team in the United States Interregional Soccer League (USISL).
Currently, McColl teaches for the Town of Lunenburg and provides 1-on-1 support for students with IEP’s. She will assume all heading coaching duties effectively immediately.
