Women’s Indoor Track Shines At Wesleyan Indoor Invitational

Camara qualifies for All-New England's in the 60 meter hurdles with time of 9.13 seconds

Middletown, CT – The Fitchburg State University Women's Indoor Track & Field team returned to action today as they competed at the 2026 Wesleyan Indoor Invitational at the Bacon Field House.

How It Happened

Senior Makany Camara (Lowell, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, taking placing second overall in the 60 meter hurdles with an All-New England qualifying time of 9.13 seconds and 17th in the 200 meter with a time of 28.95, while senior Skye Goba (Norton, MA) placed first overall in the 3000 meter with a time of 10:42.53.

In the 60 meter dash, sophomore Arieyana Robinson (Worcester, MA) (19th),  freshman Nevaeh Hurley (Fitchburg, MA) (21st), senior Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA) (24th), newcomer Dehkontee Cooper (Haverhill, MA) (26th) and newcomer Ama Aminu (Randolph, MA) posted times of 8.84, 9.00, 9.11, 9.14 and 9.31 seconds, while in the 600 meter, junior Alexis Toste (Dracut, MA) posted an 18th place time of 2:10.68.

In the 1000 meter, junior Gwendolyn Connors (Ayer, MA) finished fourth overall with a time of 2:47.14, while in the 200 meter, Robinson (31.29) and Cooper (33.69) placed 32nd and 35th respectively.

In the field, senior Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) and junior Taylor Crout (Boise, ID) placed 14th and 15th overall in the weight throw with tosses of 10.62M and 10.16M respectively, while in the shot put, Crout (13th), Israelson (15th) and newcomer Maya Ortiz (Webster, MA) (22nd) notched tosses of 9.50 meters, 9.39 meters and 5.74 meters.

In the long jump, Hurley and Velez finished 17th and 18th overall with marks of 4.24 meters and 4.05 meters

Falcons return to action next Saturday as they compete at the 2026 Branwen Smith King Invitational, hosted by Tufts University, starting at 10:00AM.
