Women’s Track Soars At Branwen Smith-King Invite

Camara and Goba collect first place efforts for the Green & Gold

Medford, MA – The Fitchburg State University Women's Indoor Track & Field team competed at the 2026 Branwen Smith-King Invitational today, hosted by Tufts University at the Gantcher Family & Sports Convocation Center.

How It Happened

Senior Makany Camara (Lowell, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, taking placing second overall in the 60 meter hurdles with an All-New England qualifying time of 8.97 seconds and first overall in the high jump with a DIII NE qualifying mark of 1.63 meters, while senior Skye Goba (Norton, MA) finished second overall in the 5000 meter with a time of 18:35.79 as well as taking top honors in the 3000 meter with a time of 10:49.66.

In the 60 meter dash, sophomore Arieyana Robinson (Worcester, MA) (23rd), junior Trishannah Scott (Fitchburg, MA) (25th) and freshman Amu Aminu (Randolph, MA) (27th) turned in times of 8.87, 8.99 and 9.32 seconds, while junior Alexis Toste (Lowell, MA) turned in fourth place time of 1:14.50 in the 400 meter.

In the 1000 meter, junior Gwendolyn Connors (Ayer, MA) finished 13th overall with a time of 3:42.56, while in the 200 meter, Robinson (30.77), Velez (31.42) and Aminu (31.59) placed 31st, 34th and 35th respectively.

In the field, junior Taylor Crout (Boise, ID) and senior Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) finished eighth and 13th in the weight throw with tosses of 12.68 and 10.44 meters, while in the shotput, Crout (9.78M), Israelson (8.98M), junior Joey Schmidt-Gross (Sudbury, MA) (6.37M) and freshman Maya Ortiz (Webster, MA) (5.89M) finished 11th, 14th, 22nd and 23rd respectively.

In the long jump, junior Scott and Velez finished fifth and 14th overall with marks of 4.97 meters and 4.37 meters, while Scott added a seventh effort in the triple jump with a mark of 9.90 meters,
