Goba and Camara take top honors for the Green & Gold

North Hampton, MA – The Fitchburg State University Women's Indoor Track & Field returned to action today as they competed at the 2026 Mary Grinaker Invitational, hosted by Smith College at the Indoor Track & Tennis Center.

How It Happened

Senior Skye Goba (Norton, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, finishing first overall in the 5000 meter with a time of 18:49.22 and first overall in the 1000 meter with a time of 3:15.98, while classmate Makany Camara (Lowell, MA) took top honors in high jump with a DIII NE qualifying mark of 1.63 meters as well as finishing first overall in 60 meter hurdles with an All-New England qualifying time of 8.96 seconds.

In the 60 meter dash, sophomore Arieyana Robinson (Worcester, MA) (12th), senior Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA) (15th) and newcomer Dehkontee Cooper (Haverhill, MA) (18th) posted times of 8.87, 8.96 and 9.23 seconds, the 4x200 meter relay team of Robinson, junior Gwendolyn Connors (Ayer, MA), Camara and junior Trishannah Scott (Fitchburg, MA) turned in a fourth place time of 1:58.71.

In the triple jump, Scott placed sixth overall with a mark of 9.68 meters, while in the 400 meter, junior Alexis Toste (Dracut, MA) finished 12th overall with a time of 1:12.95.

In the 200 meter, Scott (29.99), Toste (32.47), freshman Nevaeh Hurley (Fitchburg, MA) (32,86) and Cooper (33.04) finished 15th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th respectively, while in the 1000 meter, sophomore Morgan Ruel (Dracut, MA) turned in a fifth place time if 5:05.68.

In the field, junior Taylor Crout (Boise, ID) finished seventh overall in the shotput with a toss of 9.87 meters, while in the long jump, Camara (2nd) and Scott (8th) registered marks of 4.92 and 4.49 meters. Sophomore Joey Schmidt-Gross (Sudbury, MA) (6.66M) and freshman Maya Ortiz (Webster, MA) (6.16M) placed 21st and 23rd in the shotput.
