Women’s Track Shines At Silfen Invitational

Goba sets new school record in the 10,000 meter with sixth place time of 37:26.53

New London, CT – The Fitchburg State University Women's Outdoor Track & Field team returned to action this weekend as they competed at the 2026 Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College at the Silfen Field and Track.

How It Happened

Senior Skye Goba (Norton, MA) led the way for the Falcons, placing sixth overall in the 10,000 meter with a new school record and All-New England qualifying time of 37:26.53, surpassing the previous record held by Debbie Cassinelli, while senior Makany Camara (Lowell, MA) took top honors in the high jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 1.58 meters.

In the 100 meter, Camara (14th), sophomore Arieyana Robinson (Worcester, MA) (29th), junior Trishannah Scott (Fitchburg, MA) (33rd), senior Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA), freshman Nevaeh Hurley (Fitchburg, MA) (40th), newcomer Ama Aminu (Randolph, MA) (42nd)and newcomer Dehkontee Cooper (Haverhill, MA) (43rd) turned in times of 12.99, 13.65, 13.87, 14.27, 14.37 14.42 and 14.48 seconds respectively, while in the 1500 meter, junior Alexis Toste (Dracut, MA) placed 21st overall with a time of 5:40.57.

In the 400 meter,Toste placed 30th overall with a time of 1:16.79, while in the 800 meter, junior Gwendolyn Connors (Ayer, MA) and sophomore Morgan Ruel (Dracut, MA) finished 13th and 29th overall with times of 2:39.28 and 3:49.78.

In the 200 meter, Scott (28.36), Robinson (29.17), Connors (31.21) and Cooper (33.18) placed 27th, 39th, 49th and 55th overall.

In the field, junior Taylor Crout (Boise, ID) placed second overall in the hammer throw with a PR toss of 41.15 meters meters, while in discus, Crout finished fifth overall with a throw of 30.52 meters.

In the triple jump, junior Scott and Robinson finished third and 14th overall with marks of 10.35 meters and 8.84 meters, while Hurley and Velez finished 14th and 16th overall in the long jump with marks of 4.47 and 4.43 meters. In the javelin, freshman Maya Ortiz (Webster, MA) finished19th overall with a throw of 24.00 meters
