Filimonov Named MASCAC Rookie Of The Week

Saint Petersburg, Russia native nets third weekly accolade of the season 

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State Ice Hockey freshman Aleksei Filimonov (Saint Petersburg, Russia) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Filimonov earned his third weekly honor of the season after collecting five points on three goals and two assists in a 1-1 week for the Falcons. Aleksei netted two goals and two assists as well as the game winning marker in a 6-5 overtime victory over the Owls of Keene State on Monday before adding on goal in a 5-4 setback to Salem State on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State Ice Hockey team (8-5-0, 4-1-0 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as they host the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University for a non-conference tilt with a 6:30PM puck drop.
