How It Happened
1st quarter
Salem State opened the contest with a 4-2 edge on two baskets from senior Maria Orfanos (Lynn, MA) before Fitchburg State grabbed a 5-4 advantage on a three-pointer by sophomore Mary Keohane (N. Chelmsford, MA). The Vikings pushed the lead to 13-7 as freshman Yamilette Guerrera (Salem, MA) hit a layup.
2nd quarter
The Falcons trimmed the deficit to 13-11 when junior Monet Augmon (New London, CT) converted an and one, but Salem State answered back with Orfanos hitting a jumper for the 20-11 lead. The Green and Gold reduced the margin to 25-16 as newcomer Kyelah Smith (Bloomfield, CT) sank a free throw before the Vikings took a 27-16 edge into the break on a Orfanos layup.
3rd quarter
Following the intermission, Salem State extended the advantage to 40-17 as senior Ernidia Goncalves (Everett, MA) registered a layup before Fitchburg counter when Smith and newcomer Anitsy Robles (Worcester, MA) netted buckets to make the score 40-23.
4th quarter
The Falcons reduced the margin to 46-28 as Robles notched a layup, but the Vikings secured the victory on three-ball from Orfanos, resulting in the 67-34 final.

- Augmon added seven points, four caroms, two steals and one block
- For the Vikings, Orfanos registered a game-leading 18 points, two boards and five assists
