Women’s Lacrosse Earns Season Opener Victory Over Leopards
St George nets four goals for Green & Gold
BOSTON, Mass.. The Fitchburg State University women's lacrosse team used a dominant fourth quarter and a four-goal performance from Jessica St. George to secure a 12-8 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology on Wednesday evening.

How It Happened.
The Falcons found themselves in a tight battle early. After first-quarter goals from Hannah Azzari and Paige Marchand gave Fitchburg a 2-1 edge, Wentworth responded with a pair of tallies to take a 3-2 advantage. The Falcons answered in the second period as Jessica St. George scored off a caused turnover and Samantha Azzari followed with a strike off a feed from Hannah Azzari to knot the contest at 4-4.
Fitchburg seized momentum midway through the second quarter. Nevaeh Chiacchia converted a free-position opportunity before adding a second goal off an assist from St. George, pushing the Falcons ahead 6-5 at the break.
After Wentworth evened the score at 7-7 late in the third, the Falcons erupted in the final frame. St. George opened the quarter with a man-up free-position goal, and Noelle Kennedy followed just seconds later with another player-advantage tally to make it 9-7. Samantha Azzari added a man-up marker midway through the period, extending the lead to 10-7.
St. George capped her standout performance with back-to-back goals, including an unassisted strike and a finish off a feed from Samantha Azzari.
