Ice Hockey Soars Past Leopards In Non-Conference Action

Four Falcons find the back of the net

Fitchburg, MA - The Fitchburg State ice hockey team earned a 4-0 victory over the Leopards of Wentworth Institute this afternoon in non-conference action from the Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State opened the scoring midway through the first period as freshman Nael Touhami (Ittigen, Switzerland) settled a feed from juniors Alexandre Bauvais (Mendoon, France) and Nicklas Millhorn (Brownstown, MI) and fired a shot into the right side of net for his first collegiate marker for the 1-0 edge.

The Falcons doubled the advantage just one minute into the third period when graduate student Christian Halbig (Queenstown, MD) deposited a shot into the lower left corner for his third score of the 2025-26 campaign with assists from freshmen Aleksei Filimonov (Saint Petersburg, Russia) and Devin Niles (Hatfield, MA) to make the score 2-0.

The Green and Gold pushed the lead to 3-0 midway through the frame with senior Jeremy Maillet (Leominster, MA) gathered a feed from junior Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA) and senior Trenton Skaggs (Oconomowoc, WI) and found the back of net for his first tally of the year.

The Falcons secured the victory three minutes later as newcomer Tye Battipaglia (Cheshire, CT) redirected a shot into the back of the net for his seventh score on the season with assists from Filimonov and Halbig, resulting in the 4-0 final.
